Just as I got a new Bamboo Tablet... my computer DIES on me. -_-
After installing my tablet driver for some reason it came with a whole bunch of stuff/crap and made starting up my laptop EXTREMELY slow. So, I went ahead and installed a whole bunch of programs that I haven't used in ages, deleted some system files that looked like remainders of a previously removed program (in hindsight that was a mistake), got rid of a load of 'start up' items. Restart... and BAM. VIRUS. Vista Anti-Virus 2011
So it blocked everything saying it was dangerous, blah blah. Which I guess wasn't that bad. But I'm impatient, and I messed around more with my start up items / system files / registry... <_<;; didn't make it any better. Went to work the next day, found the instructions to removed it. Except it didn't remove it... it made it basically run in the background. And then for some reason disabled my computer from SHUTTING DOWN. -_- So two nights in a row, I woke up to find my computer BURNING hot... on the 3rd night, after I got up in the morning to restart it, my computer won't boot anymore. It does that 'Dell' screen, but won't boot my Windows.
Long story short, I took out the HDD, my co-worker lent me a SATA cable, and now I have all my files. (Except those on my desktop, which requires me to log in before I can access them)... transferred them all to my external harddrive and.... I DROPPED MY HARDDRIVE ON THE GROUND. |||orz So now I have a whole bunch of drives and no where to transfer the files.
So... kinda annoyed right now. Lost a whole bunch of programs, namely PHOTOSHOP
And Starcraft 2.
I should probably go out and buy a new laptop... but so much to do! School's starting in less than a week! (AKA if anyone want to suggest a good laptop to me, please do so! Looking for 17-inch monitor with resolution 1920 x 1200 and Windows 7 pls)
Although, what little time I did have to use my new Bamboo tablet, I have to say, the pad is VERY nice... feel like drawing on real paper! My only complaint is screen position is absolute and you can't change it to relative, unless you change it to mouse-mode. Although I suppose that's the more "realistic" approach since it'd be the same affect if you were drawing on paper.... fairly cheap too, under $100... so if anyone's looking for a tablet, I recommend it!
Also, Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware
anti-virus is a VERY GOOD FREE ANTI-VIRUS! When I was using my mom's computer... somehow I got the Vista Anti-Virus virus again (oops). IMMEDIATELY scanned it w/ Anti-Malware (before it could block it), and removed it beautifully.
Anyway, that's the end of my little complaint. The lack of photoshop/computer gave me an art block. Drew something today though, scanned it in but don't wanna post some picture adjusted in MS Paint so... it's just gonna sit on my desktop for now.
Last day of work tomorrow!
Lesson learnt? Don't mess around with your computer's system files and registry! And external drives are fragile as hell... so don't drop them.
